Learn about the origin of Valentine's Day and some gift tips.
14 February, known as "Valentine's Day", is not an invention of department stores. Beyond the marketing, gifts, trips or romantic dinners, there is a fascinating story that deserves to be known.
The 14th of February symbolised the purpose of a pope with great character and courage who, as well as protecting Christians, defended traditional marriage and secretly married soldiers to their partners. This angered the state and Valentine was brought before the judge. The judge told him, if he was really a saint, to cure his daughter's blindness, and St. Valentine did so, escaping death. This happiness was short-lived, however, as the emperor Claudius imprisoned him again because he was tired of his constant challenges and excessive fame.
Before he was martyred, Valentine was able to write a letter to the young woman whose sight he had restored. For some it was a love letter, for others a beautiful farewell, but whatever it was, what is clear is that it established the tradition of sending letters to the people we love on this date.
Don't tell me that this story doesn't make you want to tell your partner or someone very dear to you how special they are, that the days in their company make life more beautiful. If you see that words are not your thing, do it with a fact that is sure to work. At Henry Arroway we give you ideas. Surprise her with a dinner in a restaurant and give her one of those special outer garments that you know she likes and why not, in red.
The Aroa parka is super flattering. It is a functional garment that you can wear it whenever you want and combine it easily with the clothes in your wardrobe. She will love it.
Valentine's Day is also a day to give to loved ones, it doesn't have to be just for your partner. It's the perfect excuse to remind your mum or dad that they are fantastic, that thanks to them you are the person you are today.
For her we recommend "Elizabeth" puffer, elegant as they come. A feathered garment whose "Hermes Red" colour and glossy finish gives it a distinctive touch.
And for him we recommend a model that is sure to surprise. The "Dwayne" puffer is a short, warm and youthful jacket, ideal for days out with family and friends. Encourage him to combine it with his best jumper or sweatshirt. He'll look great.
